Gov. Sherrill: Stop the NESE Pipeline!

We have one last chance to stop the Williams NESE fracked gas pipeline that would run through New Jersey and under Raritan Bay on its way to New York. Donald Trump and New York Governor Kathy Hochul revived this project last year, and now we have one final shot at stopping it here in New Jersey.

Williams needs Governor Sherrill and the Tidelands Council to grant one final license to clear the way for construction to begin. The vote is on May 6. If enough New Jerseyans come together at this moment, we can defeat this massive, polluting pipeline once and for all.

I urge you to deny the Tidelands license for Williams Transco’s Northeast Supply Enhancement Project, better known as the dirty NESE gas pipeline.

Williams Transco’s NESE pipeline would destroy the tidelands and wetlands, pollute our air, contaminate the water in Raritan Bay, and put New Jersey at risk. The tidelands are state-owned and held in a trust for the people of New Jersey. We must not allow Williams Transco to move the NESE project along. New Jersey would get all of the risk, while all of the natural gas would go to New York. It would worsen air quality, contaminate our waters, and expose all of us to toxic pollution.

This project poses a massive risk to water quality. The pipeline would run under Raritan Bay and Lower New York Bay, presenting serious threats to sensitive ecosystems. Allowing new fossil fuel infrastructure to move forward also poses a massive threat to our livable climate while keeping us hooked on the expensive fossil fuels that are driving utility rates through the roof.

Please direct the Tidelands Resource Council to deny the licensing and say NO to the dirty NESE gas pipeline!
