The rapid expansion of data centers is one of the biggest affordability and environmental threats of our generation, increasing demand for energy, driving more fossil fuel pollution, straining water resources, and raising electricity prices.
New York must press the pause button on the construction of new data centers. We need a moratorium until data center harms can be fully assessed and adequate rules and regulations put in place to fully protect our health, communities, and environment.
Urge your state legislators to co-sponsor and pass S. 9144 / A. 10141 to establish a moratorium on data centers and create safeguards against the industry.
