Instead of standing firm against Trump’s toxic agenda, the Senate advanced a spending package that has NO healthcare subsidies and ZERO protections from Trump’s rescissions – a dangerous process that allows Trump to gut previously agreed on funding. This vote required the support of 60 Senators, and it was the only real chance that the Senate Democrats had to rein in Trump’s reckless dismantling of essential programs.
The spending bill now requires additional Senate approvals and will then return to the House for a final vote before being sent to Trump for signature into law.
