Say NO to the Reckless Delta Conveyance Project!

Big Ag and Big Oil interests are pushing the California Legislature to back a $20 billion boondoggle that we cannot afford, and we need your help to stop it.

Climate change is driving the water crisis in California. But instead of reining in their abuses, water-guzzling agribusiness and fossil fuel operations are pushing our legislators in Sacramento to fast-track the Delta Conveyance Project. If completed, the project would redirect water into a massive tunnel that bypasses the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, causing extensive ecological harm and further degrading water quality in the Delta. We already stopped an effort in June to push this legislation through, and we can do it again.

Tell your State Senator and Assemblymember to protect our environment and our wallets by voting NO on any bill to support the Delta Conveyance Project.

We need a real solution to California’s water crisis, but the Delta Conveyance Project is an expensive delusion we cannot afford. Not only would the project devastate the Delta ecosystem and nearby communities, but it will cost more than $20 billion at a time when our budget is in crisis. And inflation, combined with Trump’s tariffs, will only make things worse.

Nearly a million people in California lack access to safe, reliable drinking water, yet corporate water use keeps growing. Expanded nut crop acres required over 520 billion gallons more water in 2021 than just four years prior. Alfalfa irrigation guzzles around 945 billion gallons of water per year, mega-dairies use more than 142 million gallons per day, and climate-polluting oil and gas operators devoured 3 billion gallons of freshwater between 2018 and 2021.

With climate change already here, we must be smarter about how we use our water and financial resources; we need to prioritize access to safe drinking water instead of throwing away billions to support corporate interests.

I urge you to oppose the Delta Conveyance Project and any effort to fast-track its construction.
