The New York State legislature just passed a critical piece of the NY HEAT Act, A8888, that ends the 100-foot rule — a significant win for New Yorkers and our climate future!

Ending the 100-foot rule means no more $200 million yearly ratepayer subsidies for fossil fuel expansion and forcing New Yorkers to pay for gas hookups we don’t want or need. It means a cleaner, fairer energy system that paves the way for heat pumps, solar, and real affordability.
