The Senate just passed the dirty Republican House spending bill, giving Musk and Trump free rein to escalate their dismantling of critical programs that protect our food, water, health, and climate. Rather than leading Senate opposition to this plan, Senate Minority Leader Schumer cleared the way for it to pass – earning the praise of President Trump.

In light of your decision to give up the critical leverage Democrats in the Senate had to block the Musk-Trump agenda, I call on you to immediately step down as Senate Minority Leader.

You have failed the basic test of leadership – facilitating, rather than opposing, the Musk-Trump plans to dismantle, loot, and privatize the federal government. The praise you received from Trump for your decision is proof enough. And you sided with the administration rather than representing the majority of Democrats in the Senate or aligning with the near-unanimous voice of Democrats in the House.
