The average person consumes 4,000 or more microplastic particles from drinking water each year. Microplastics consumption presents a significant health risk—including an increased risk of cancer—yet the EPA hasn’t taken steps to monitor and regulate microplastics in drinking water.
That’s why Food & Water Watch and seven Governors have petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to monitor for microplastics, so that we can begin to address this huge problem.
