Maryland: 100% Clean Energy Now!

Governor Moore pledged to release an ambitious climate plan to help Maryland reach 100% clean energy by 2035 and net zero emissions by 2045. But his most recent executive order calls on state agencies to draft yet another climate implementation plan like the one they did last year.

We don't have another year to waste. Maryland is already feeling the harmful effects of climate change across the state, so the time is now for Governor Moore to step up and take action.

Urge the governor to take real action to phase out fossil fuels, establish a clean power standard that blocks greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution, and help Maryland finally reach 100% clean energy via wind and solar.

- Set a path for the retirement of fossil fuels, including natural gas
- Define a clean power standard that precludes all emitters of greenhouse gasses, like methane and carbon dioxide, as well as other dangerous pollutants from receiving clean energy subsidies

Your latest executive order on Maryland’s 2023 Climate Pollution Reduction Plan asks state agencies to spend yet more time drafting a plan! But that’s another potential year wasted with little to no major action in the fight against climate change.

We need bold moves to transition away from fossil fuels, while investing more resources into a real clean energy plan. To do this, we must set a definition of "clean energy" that excludes all emitters of greenhouse gasses and other pollutants.

The climate crisis is here and we have no time to delay. In order for Maryland to become a leader in the fight against climate change, we need immediate action to ensure we are funding real renewable energy projects like wind and solar power.

There is no time to waste. The days of funding polluters like fossil fuel power plants and other dirty energy sources that are harmful to both the environment and our health must end.

I urge you to take a stand and take real, actionable steps to help Maryland to achieve 100% clean energy.
